Mr. Sam Oakenhurst
Sam Oakenhurst is a Jugadore and friend to Jack Karaquazian. He is also one of the Rose's lovers. He was slain by Paul Minct but had his soul reclaimed by the Rose. At one point, he was surgically altered by the Machinoix into a human stick-insect. After Colinda Dovero left Jack, she married Sam, and they worked together for the city of New Orleans, of which Sam was mayor when he died. Ultimately, Jack used the Holy Grail to free Sam's soul from Captain Billy-Bob Begg's, but a consequence was that Sam could never live again.
