Ameeron is a city in the dark netherworld beyond the Shade Gate. It is inhabited by all manner of beings from various worlds and time periods, a population of exiles, refugees, and travelers between dimensions who lost their way and never found it again. Those who dwell here do not live here by choice. For these reasons Elric referred to Ameeron as a city of the damned. He and Rackhir visited Ameeron during their pursuit of the renegade Yyrkoon and their quest for the two Black Swords, Stormbringer and Mournblade.[1]

Description[]

Ameeron is a dirty, stinking, ramshackle city perpetually clouded in smoke from sputtering fires. It consists of a chaos of architectural styles, if the word "style" can be applied to such a place. These include tents, shacks, shanties, cottages, castles, towers, forts, villas, wooden huts with carved ornamentation, and simple piles of rock with a single open doorway. Ameeron has no inn or city square.[2]

Inhabitants[]

The majority of those inhabiting Ameeron live in a state of decadence and depression and largely keep to themselves. They engage in trade with demons who occasionally visit the city, and those who are truly brave feed themselves by hunting rats in subterranean caverns.[2]

Ameeron is the dwelling place of the sorcerer Niun.[3]
